(Tucson, AZ · April, 5th 2013) — With the effective start date of April 5th 2013, CMA will begin work on a Phase II SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) contract issued with the AFRL (Air Force Research Lab).

The contract goal is to produce a 750mm parabolic carbon fiber mirror with fractional-wave (P-V at 635nm wavelength or better) performance for space-based telescope applications. CMA will also perform environmental testing on samples and optically test the final mirror at the UA Steward Observatory for outside verification.

Once the system is updated, more information will be available on sbir.gov
