CMA’s AMS Mirror On-Station for 7 Years

(Tucson, AZ · May 19, 2018) — 7 years ago a 1.3-meter, conical carbon composite mirror for the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS-02) was deployed on the ISS as the primary mission of the last mission (STS-134) of the Space Shuttle Endeavor. AMS-02 is a state-of-the-art particle physics detector organized by the DOE (Department of Energy) involving 16 countries and has made the news recently with it’s findings on dark matter. The AMS has been on-station for 7 years, achieving the maximum space flight technical readiness level (TRL) level of 9.
